Over the summer of 2012, Jordan apprenticed under experienced ceramicist Maria Spearman, helping to execute her “Forget Me Knot” installation and learning much about clay and art form.
In November of 2013, she entered and placed First in Hendrix’s Art Showcase with her first installation-style piece, “The Red Sea”. Jordan was awarded College Artist Award in April 2015 by the Conway Alliance for the Arts (CAFTA) for her artistic involvement in the Conway community as well as her Artsfest installation, "Ebb&Flow". During the summer of 2016, Jordan completed a residency in Murau, Austria as a visiting artist, teaching her wire-sculpting techniques as well as apprenticing with a handful of artists in the local artists' guild, working with trades ranging from marble sculpting to clothing design to tea foraging. Jordan’s work has been on display in a handful of Austin spaces, including Atelier 1205, Epoch Coffee, and the Neill-Cochran House-Museum for the beloved 2018 West Austin Studio Tour. In 2019, her work was showcased in a handful of pop-up art shows in Dallas, including nationally pervasive "Conception Art Show". |
"My scheduled time for creating art is sacred and essential to my well-being. Wire and paper are the media that speak to me most and it saddens me to hear people say “Oh, I’m not artistic” because, until I found the right medium, I felt the same way. I rediscovered my artistic outlet when I was forced (twice) by athletic injuries as well as psychological necessity to slow down, listen to, and take care of my body. I didn't realize it, but I was using art therapeutically. Discovering this incredibly intuitive and healing technique has led me to guide others out of the psychological "rut" in which many find themselves after experiencing injury, physical or psychological. In my future career, I aim to complement physical therapy with art therapy to assist others in experiencing and achieving a deeper and more complete healing."
